The Ajax All-Star U-17G Elite girls soccer travel ball club will compete in the 2015 Vegas Cup Soccer Tournament this weekend, with over 17 local high schools represented from a variety of the best players in the San Joaquin/Stanislaus area.

This four-day event began on Friday and will conclude on Monday with a record of over 606 teams competing from 20 different associations and represented by 18 different states.

“It's great to acknowledge the hard work that these group of college-bound student athletes have been doing this past soccer season,” said Ajax head coach Hervi Rualo. “To be invited to play in this prestigious college showcase is really special.”

Of all the local high schools, Turlock has a lone representative in Sophie Warda, who is in her sophomore season with the Bulldogs and competing with some of the best players around.

Ceres High's Karina Torrez will also be competing on the squad.

The players are expected to be competing in front of more than 90 collegiate coaches from every division, including the NAIA.

This provides the best opportunity for student-athlete to showcase their talents on the pitch and perhaps land a chance for a dream to become a reality.

“The local kids are all excited,” said Rualo. “All these girls have been trying to expose themselves to all these college coaches by attending multiple camps and tournaments.”

The U-16 through U-19 teams will playing all of their games at Heritage Park in Henderson, Nevada.
