Jamshid Ghardashem

POSTED March 6, 2015 8:26 p.m.

Jamshid Ghardashem, age 75, passed away after a long fight against cancer.  He was a gentle, patient, kind, generous, and compassionate man, loving to all those who crossed his path, and with a delightful sense of humor.

He leaves behind his wife Elvira of 39 years of marriage, and his daughter Leila.  Jamshid, who also went by “Jim”, was born in Iran, but immigrated to the United States as a youth to pursue his education.

He graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in civil engineering, and made a significant contribution to the planning and construction of schools, airports, and prisons throughout California.

He was also an active member of the Bahá’í Faith, and served the local communities to which he belonged with the utmost detachment, selflessness, and dedication.

He moved with his family to Lisbon, Portugal, where they lived for over 10 years, before making Turlock his final home.

He loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener, tending to his flowers and fruit trees, and spending many summers making jam and preserves.

The family asks for prayers for the progress of his soul, and donations may be made to the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson, California, where he took his last breaths.
