City Council to consider Broadway parking changes

POSTED February 19, 2010 10:41 p.m.
The Turlock City Council is slated to discuss changing the current one-hour parking restriction enforced on South Broadway between Market and A streets at their Tuesday meeting.
According to information in the City Council agenda packet, the recent additions of a restaurant/catering business and a bakery now make that area of Broadway fall under “Downtown Core” zoning. On other “Downtown Core” streets there is a two hour parking restriction.
The City Council can choose to keep the current one-hour limited time parking restriction in that area, remove the parking restriction altogether or set another time limit restriction for that area.

Council to consider replacement of four part-time employees
At Tuesday’s meeting, the City Council will look into bringing in four part-time employees to replace positions that were left vacant. The four part-time positions are within the assessment district, Turlock Regional Sports Complex and Pedretti Sports Complex. The four part-time positions were left vacant due to two employees accepting employment outside of the City and two leaving the City to attend school. The assessment district position work days are Monday through Friday. One position at the Turlock Regional Sports Complex will work weekends and evenings for about 16 to 24 hours per week. The third position at the Turlock Regional Sports Complex will work Monday through Friday along with some evening and weekends, for about 32 to 40 hours per week. The fourth vacant position at Pedretti Sports Complex will work Monday through Friday and some weekends from mid-February to early November working about 32 to 40 hours per week. All four positions are available for $8 to $10 per hour, depending on experience.

Development committee to give annual report, appoint members
The Development Collaborative Advisory Committee was created in July 2007. The eight community members who serve on the board will be giving their second annual report to the council at Tuesday’s meeting. They are also requesting an additional two year reauthorization of the committee to keep making progress within the development services for the city.
