PREP FOOTBALL WEEK 7 ROUNDUP

POSTED October 13, 2015 10:28 p.m.

Delhi dominates Le Grand, 51-24

After losing big to Orestimba a week prior by 43 points, Delhi (4-2) High put the loss aside and bounced back with a big road victory, dominating Le Grand (0-6) on Friday, 51-24.

It looked to be close on Friday night for Delhi after a halftime score of 24-12.

The Hawks went on to outscore Le Grand 27-12 in the second half behind 440 rushing yards and Le Grand stood no chance after being held to 73 rushing yards combined.

Jesse Flores rushed the ball 11 times for a game-high 138 yards, including a pair of touchdowns and six other Hawks rushed the ball at least two or more times as the team averaged just over 11 yards per carry for the game.

The defense for Delhi was on point as well, coming away with three sacks, two interceptions and a blocked field goal which helped the team snap a two-game losing streak heading into their seventh game.

The next game for Delhi will be a road contest at Mariposa set for 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Pitman outlasts Buhach, 49-34

The Pitman High varsity football squad met a determined Buhach Colony team when they traveled to Atwater on Friday to begin league play in the Central California Conference. The Thunder battled the Pride throughout the first half of Friday's contest, but it was a different story in the last two quarters of the game.

Pitman's Devan Bass paved the way with his 159 rushing yards and the Pride scored 35 points in the second half en route to a 49-34 win.

The Buhach defense held Pitman to only 111 yards on offense in the first half, with Bass amassing only eight yards before getting momentum in the second half.

Pitman tallied 291 yards of offense in the second half, including touchdowns in five of their six drives and the Pride rolled into their third straight win of the season.

The next game for the Pride will be a crucial CCC contest against Merced at home set for 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Gustine blanks Denair, 44-0

Denair (2-4) hosted Gustine (6-0) High on Friday night in the team's week six Southern Athletic League contest.

Gustine scored six total touchdowns, three rushing and three passing in Friday's road victory as they blanked Denair, 44-0.

Gustine's Brandon Labry gashed the Denair defense for 151 rushing yards on 14 carries, notching a pair of touchdowns.

Quarterback Sebastian Figueroa of Gustine threw for 205 yards and three touchdowns as well as rushing for 27 yards, including a rushing touchdown as Denair failed to stop Gustine or provide any sparks offensively.

“Gustine is good and we didn't play to our standards; a bad combination of both,” said Denair head coach Anthony Armas, who was shutout for the first time as a head coach.

Next for Denair is another SAL game as they host Orestimba at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

TC falls to Big Valley after hot start

Turlock Christian (1-5) High's varsity football team scored 20 points in the first quarter of Saturday's game against Big Valley Christian (5-2), however, it wasn't enough to pull out a win in the Central California Athletic Alliance contest.

The TC Eagles started with a productive pass defense, however, Big Valley Christian ran the rock for 351 yards on their way to a 22-20 lead at the half, and they didn't look back.

TC lost, 38-34, after a four quarter effort where the team notched 14 points, but the Lions' run game was too much for the Eagles.

The Eagles were held to only 92 rushing yards on 39 carries and although the passing game was the most successful, Big Valley held on to possession for majority of the game.

TC's Jakob Skinner was 10-for-14 and threw two touchdowns with 209 yards while Dominic Zendejas caught four of them for 92 yards and a score.

The next game for TC will be a home game against Harker at 7 p.m. Friday.
