Merced College plans protest

POSTED February 26, 2010 8:32 p.m.
Students at Merced College will join in the March 4 Statewide Day of Action to Defend Public Education, as the Associated Students of Merced College will hold a rally in the Merced College Quad from noon to 1 p.m. on that day.
The protest will also feature a mock graveyard on the front lawn of campus, at the corner of Yosemite and M streets, filled with fake tombstones representing Merced College classes or employees who were cut due to the state budget.
The rally is intended to protest additional cuts, and to inform both students and the public of the effects that cuts, layoffs, fee increases, and reduced class sections have had. The event will also present possible solutions to the myriad problems.
