POSTED January 22, 2016 6:14 p.m.

The Federal Bureau of Investigations is hoping the public might recognize the man that has robbed several banks in Northern California, the Bay Area and the Central Valley that authorities have dubbed the “Hefty Heister.”

The suspect has robbed banks in Rohnert Park, Brentwood, Pleasant Hill, Walnut Grove, Suisun City, Lodi and Elk Grove. The robberies began on Dec. 3, 2015. The most recent occurred on Tuesday.

Upon entering each of the banks, the suspect has presented tellers with a demand note that also threatened a weapon. During one robbery, the suspect aimed a black semiautomatic pistol at the teller. The bank robberies are being investigated by the FBI and the local police departments that serve the communities where the robberies occurred.

The “Hefty Heister” is described as a stocky, white male who stands 5 feet, 6 inches to 5 feet, 8 inches tall. He is believed to be 35 to 45 years old and may have blue eyes. During the robberies, the suspect wore baggy, dark colored pants and tan work boots or shabby athletic shoes with blue or black tops and white soles; and a ring on his third (ring) finger of his left hand. Shirts, hats and face coverings have varied with each robbery, according to the FBI.

Individuals with information about any fugitive or case posted on the FBI Sacramento Most Wanted page may call 1-800-CALL-FBI (800- 885-5984) the Sacramento field office at (916) 481-9110, or the San Francisco field office at (415) 553- 7400. Tips may also be submitted at tips.fbi.gov.
