In the final dual meeting of the year, Pitman’s varsity boys and girls came out on top in Friday’s crosstown swim meeting with Turlock.

The Pride girls ended the day with a 95-90 victory and the boys followed up with a 101-69 decision.

Pitman's girls team, which has won four regular season duals and tied with Merced, were led by Annika Jasek and Audrey Morgan who finished with first place results.

Jasek placed first in the 200 free and 500 free and Morgan followed up with a first place finish in the 200 IM after scoring a time of 2:25.70.

“I think it’s good for our girls to achieve what we have this season,” said Pitman coach Anne Cornell. “We have been building on it from day one. They completely underestimated themselves and they are seeing how practice and dedication pays off.”

Natasha Sondeno also topped all the girls in diving after finishing in her regular position—first.

“As a coaching staff we are so proud of the team’s effort,” said Cornell. “Natasha took first but there was no score provided.”

On the boys side, Josh Buck placed first in the 100 fly and 100 back. Tanner Day placed first in the 50 free and 100 free.

“Moving forward, hopefully we continue to act like a team, so proud of them,” said Cornell.

With a tight margin on the girls side, Turlock’s team came out and battled till the end.

The 200 medley relay team placed first with the team consisting of Allison Serratos, Sarah Phillips, Taylor Askil and Katy McMillan.

Phillips also took first in the 50 free and 100 breaststroke. McMillan placed first in the 100 free and Serratos took first in the 100 back.

On the boys side, the 400 free relay took first and Trent Yandell placed first in the 200 free along with Cameron Dhanowa’s first place finishes in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke.

“It was a good day and effort from our entire team,” said Turlock coach Lauren Bettencourt.
