The Turlock High boys golf team and Pitman's Chandler Hedrick will be moving on to the Master’s Tournament after an impressive outing in Monday's Sac-Joaquin CIF Division-I South Section Boys Golf Tournament from Spring Creek.

Turlock finished with the third lowest team round with a 397, while Hedrick finished in the top six of individual scores with 76.

“Chandler has a tremendous amount of talent. If he plays his game and limits the misses, he has a chance at NorCals,” said Pitman head coach Matt Jeans.

“I was extremely happy with how we played,” said Turlock head coach Jason Boswell.

Turlock's lowest score came from Preston Magina who shot a 77. Arik Bains and Logan Lucero followed with a 79. Fletcher Bacon and Dylan Cummings each shot an 81, while Connor Old rounded out the 'Dogs with a score of 85.

“The kids did a great job. If you told me that we would shoot under 400 at the divisional tournament, I would take it,” said Boswell. “Especially when I have players who have never had played the course. The tournament was set up where we couldn't play a practice round.”

Fortunately for Turlock, that didn't matter as they outperformed multiple teams.

Pitman on the other hand was second to last in team scores with a 462.

“We did not play our best today, but I am very pleased that we made it here as a team,” said Jeans.

The second lowest round for Pitman, following Hedrick was Nathaniel Coutinho and Andrew Pitcock who each shot a 96. Drew Fusi shot a 101. Steven Bishop finished with a 104 and Devan Nevares shot a 105.

“This has been a very successful year. We tied for second place with El Capitan, and qualified as a team for Divisionals,” Jeans added.

The Master’s Tournament will take place from the Reserve at Spanos Park at a time yet to be announced on Monday.

“This team has been consistent all year. I am extremely proud,” Boswell added.
