Fair brings back empowHER Lounge

The empowHER Lounge will once again return to the Stanislaus County Fair and will offer a series of presentations during the Fair’s 10-day run.

POSTED May 11, 2017 6:48 p.m.

In the hopes of embarking on a new tradition of building confidence and leadership skills in the region’s young women, the Stanislaus County Fair will once again host the award-winning empowHER Lounge.

The Stanislaus County Fair has partnered with Vintage Faire Mall, Yonan’s Jewelers, Women’s Education and Leadership League and KHOP @ 95.1 to bring guests a contemporary and inspirational lounge for young women, ages 16 and older, to enjoy. The empowHER Lounge will be a lounge geared towards inspiring young girls to be great leaders in our community.

“Young women must feel confident within themselves and harness leadership skills to succeed in the real world,” said Adrenna Alkhas, spokesperson for the Stanislaus County Fair. “This lounge will provide fun educational opportunities that will inspire young girls to be leaders in our community.”

Alkhas created the lounge to teach young women how to support each other instead of competing, which will set the tone for becoming a successful leader.

“When women adopt innovative leadership roles they can create a unique set of skills that can broaden the company’s environment,” Alkhas said. “Women leaders can nurture and recruit other talented females and in turn create a supportive environment that actively empowers women, like putting family first or taking the pressure off.”

Giving girls the confidence to be themselves through workshops is the goal of the lounge. The lounge will also encourage girls to empower others as much as they empower themselves.  W.E.L.L. Leadership, a woman’s education and leadership league, will provide daily presentations on how to conduct themselves in different aspects of their daily lives.  Presentations will include topics such as becoming a better digital citizen; speaking up and finding their voice; as well as finding their cause and passion in life. The workshops help young women improve their leadership skills, navigate their relationship with technology, and create meaningful and inspiring online content by being careful with what they are posting on social media. Guests who sign up for the seminars will also receive a Fair and Vintage Faire Mall Swag bag (maximum of 40 guests per session will be allowed).

“Vintage Faire Mall is excited to partner with the Stanislaus County Fair’s empowHER Lounge once again to help promote healthy, strong, positive messages to young women within our center,” said Annie Amies, marketing manager at Vintage Faire Mall. “It is such a wonderful platform to showcase the abilities and assets of our retailers and their abilities and products while promoting confidence with our shoppers and local community.”

The lounge will also provide daily hair and makeup tutorials, presented by Toni ‘n Guy. Young women will be mentored by professionals on the latest styles and trends inspired by natural beauty. They will be encouraged to embrace and accentuate their natural features.  Participating retailers from Vintage Faire Mall will also have a back-to-school product display and fashions geared towards educating young women on how to dress for the life they want to lead. The lounge will be open daily during the Fair from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends.

The 2017 Stanislaus County Fair opens July 14 for a 10-day run. Discounted Fair admission tickets, unlimited ride wristbands, and the Fair season pass are on sale now.  Corporate ticket sales will also be available to purchase at a highly-discounted rate.  Visit the Fair’s website for upcoming ticket sale information at www.stancofair.com.
