Warriors basketball offers summer boys camp

POSTED May 30, 2017 9:12 p.m.

Local basketball enthusiasts will get an opportunity to learn from some of the best in the area when the Stanislaus State Warriors basketball program teams up with former players to help train the incoming generation of players on the court.

Stanislaus men’s basketball assistant coach and former player Clint Tremelling will run the camp for boys ages 8 to 13, along with women's assistant coach and Turlock native Rachel Finnegan. Former Stan State player Alek Carlson and current players Parker Griffin and Jordan Santa Maria will be helping out as well.

The camp is slated to run June 12, 14 and 16 and June 19, 21 and 23 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Turlock High School.

“We want the kids to have fun, learn something new about the game of basketball and make new friends,” said Tremelling.

Tremelling played for head coach Larry Reynolds at Stanislaus State from 2011-15 and was also part of the conference tournament championship team in 2013-14. Tremelling led the conference in three-point field goal percentage in 2012-13 and 2013-14.

Tremelling has also worked numerous summer basketball camps across the country and brings a wealth of knowledge. He coached for the California Supreme AAU program.

The camp is $140 per person and it is strongly recommended to register online by June 8 at WarriorAthleticsCamps.com. The campers will receive a free Warrior shirt and a basketball.

“It's great having the youth connect with our players and staff. We have a lot of knowledge about the game of basketball so it's always good to share that,” said Tremelling.
