Intentional collision leads to Turlock woman's arrest for attempted homicide

Anna Walker

POSTED August 3, 2017 12:16 p.m.

What was initially believed to be an injury accident turned into an attempted homicide investigation after it was revealed the injured party was purposefully run over by a Turlock woman.

Anna Walker, 54, of Turlock was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of attempted homicide for the July 29 incident, said Turlock Police spokesman Sgt. Russ Holeman.

The incident began around 11 p.m. July 29 when the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a report of an injury accident in the 1600 block of Larkspur Lane.

The first officers to arrive at the scene found a man who had sustained life-threatening injuries after being hit by a truck, Holeman said. He was rushed to a local hospital for treatment.

Through the course of the investigation, it was learned that Walker was the driver of the truck that struck the victim, Holeman said. Further information and evidence revealed that the victim had walked in front of the truck Walker was driving when she intentionally accelerated towards him striking him and knocking him to the ground.

Walker and the victim were acquainted with one another.

Walker was not at the scene, but the truck used in the assault was located in the 1800 block of W. Glenwood Avenue. Detectives were notified, and on Tuesday a warrant was obtained for Walker’s arrest. Walker was located in the 1600 block of W. Glenwood Avenue and taken into custody without incident. She remains in custody at the Stanislaus County Jail in lieu of a $500,000 bail.
