Bleeding man runs through downtown Turlock after being stabbed

Police search for suspect in attack

POSTED September 12, 2017 12:54 p.m.

A 57-year-old man stumbled through parts of downtown Turlock bleeding profusely from a neck wound he sustained from a stabbing early Tuesday morning.

The man was located by Turlock Police officers and rushed to Emanuel Medical Center with a life-threatening injury. He was subsequently taken by air ambulance to another hospital and rushed into surgery.

The suspect in the stabbing remains at large.

The incident began around 4:40 a.m. Tuesday when the Turlock Police Department received a call reporting a man was bleeding from the neck on S. Center Street, just north of Crane Avenue. The department then received a second call stating the man was running north on S. Golden State Boulevard from Crane Avenue.

Officers responded to the scene and found the gravely injured man, who could only say he had been stabbed by a man.

Investigators found a blood trial that was multiple blocks in length, and as they were following it, the police department was contacted by a security guard who believes he has found a crime scene behind a business in the 400 block of N. Golden State Boulevard.

The security guard told the investigators he had seen two men arguing and that one of them ran away toward Broadway Park.

Surveillance footage was obtained by investigators, which gave them a description of the suspected attacker. Turlock Police Sgt. Russ Holeman said he is a white male in his 20s, standing about 5 feet, 8 inches to 5 feet, 9 inches tall, with an average build and brown hair. He has a “full sleeve” tattoo on his left arm and a large tattoo on his right hand.

No weapon was found at the scene.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Turlock Police Department’s Tip Line at 668-5550 extension 6780 or email at tpdtipline@turlock.ca.us.
