Victim, witnesses offer few leads in suspected gang shooting

POSTED September 15, 2017 6:16 p.m.

A party in Turlock took a violent turn when someone shot a guest while walking in front of the residence.

The Turlock Police Department has been stymied in the investigation as the witnesses and the shooting victim have been uncooperative with investigators, said Turlock Police spokesperson Sgt. Russ Holeman.

The shooting was reported around 11 p.m. in the 300 block of Rosewood Drive.

The residents had been throwing a party at the home and several people when the suspect came walking by and opened fire on the attendees.

The shooting was reported to the police department by multiple callers stating shots had been fired in the area and a man had been seen running from the neighborhood.

The first few officers to arrive ordered everyone out of the home to check and see if an injured person was inside. They did not find anyone, but they found a blood trail from the outside of the home leading inside. The officers also found several rifle casings outside in front of the residence and multiple bullet holes were observed in a nearby vehicle and in the side of the residence.

The police report states the residents were initially hesitant to speak with the police or provide any details about who had been shot. Eventually they did say a guest had been shot in the hand and taken to the hospital before the officers arrived.

Around this time the police department was notified by Emanuel Medical Center of a gunshot victim that had been dropped off at the hospital.

Investigators believe the shooting is gang-related.

No description of the shooter was provided to the investigators.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Turlock Police Department’s Tip Line at 668-5550 extension 6780 or email at tpdtipline@turlock.ca.us.
