POSTED October 6, 2017 6:25 p.m.

The woman wanted for a carjacking and dognapping by pepper-spraying the victim has been apprehended by the Turlock Police Department, but the location of the dog remains a mystery.

The suspect was identified by the police department as Ashanda Denise Lee, 38, of Turlock. She was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of carjacking.

The victim had been sleeping in his vehicle in the 100 block of D Street, when shortly after midnight Sept. 20, he was awoken by a woman who shot him in the face with pepper spray.

The man jumped out of the vehicle, which was when the woman got into it and drove away, with the man’s dog in the backseat.

The woman was known to the man and he was able to identify her out of a photo line-up, said Turlock Police spokesperson Sgt. Russ Holeman. The woman identified was Lee.

The vehicle was found abandoned a few hours later in a parking lot off of S. First St. The dog, both license plates, and the victim’s personal items were all missing.

Lee remains in custody at the Stanislaus County Jail in lieu of a $310,000 bail.
