Law enforcement in Turlock and Delhi made busts at two separate locations over the last week that had been used for large scale marijuana growing operations.

The two investigations, which were not coordinated, led to multiple arrests and seizures of marijuana, which in the case of the Delhi raid, was one of the largest hauls in recent years.

The raid in Delhi was the result of a 10-day long investigation that led investigators with the Merced County Sheriff’s Department to a home in the 16000 block of Oak Street in Delhi.

When deputies raided the house on Thursday night they found 1,650 marijuana plants, more than 1,000 pounds of finished and packaged product, and several firearms inside along with more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition. Two of the firearms found were stolen, according to the sheriff’s department.

Given the amount of marijuana found at the home, investigators believe it was being used as a stash house before the marijuana would be sent out to be sold.

One person was arrested at the home, but the name has not been released.

On Tuesday, the Turlock Narcotics Enforcement Team went to a home in the 1600 block of E. Tuolumne Road, where they found 332 pounds of marijuana, said Turlock Police spokesman Sgt. Russ Holeman.

As the officers were approaching the home several individuals ran from it, but additional units were able to locate them nearby and take them into custody.

Arrested were: Santiago Xilotiopuac, 35, of Santa Rosa for marijuana cultivation and resisting arrest; Felix Martinez, 26, of San Jose for marijuana cultivation and resisting arrest; Adalid Flores Lopez, 41, of Santa Rosa for marijuana cultivation and resisting arrest; Rogelio Luviano Vargas, 33, no known residence for marijuana cultivation, possession of marijuana for sale and resisting arrest; and Vicente Castro Zavaelta, 40, of Hughson for marijuana cultivation, possession of marijuana for sale and resisting arrest.
