Head coach Linda Bejaran and her Turlock High varsity girls tennis team are departing the Central California Conference on top and as champions after the program captured its 11th straight CCC title, sweeping league in the process after defeating Pitman, 7-2, on Tuesday from home.

“We feel blessed to be part of a team that supports, encourages and gives 100 percent each time they step on the court,” said Bejaran, who has been the coach for the last six straight titles.

“We had some great matches this season, many being decided by just a handful of points,” said Pitman head coach Jeff Hayes. “Clearly Turlock is the better team this year. We are looking forward to the individual tournament coming up next week.”

Pitman ends the year with a 1-11 CCC posting.

Turlock swept the league, amassing a 12-0 league record for one final time in the CCC, with the program moving into a new league next season.

“It's bitter sweet. I'm going to miss playing the other teams and the awesome coaches I have had the privilege to work with,” said Bejaran. “I feel relieved and excited to go out a winner. Now we are looking forward to the challenge of playing different teams and meeting the other coaches. As a team, I hope we will be competitive and continue to give our best.”

Turlock and Pitman will be joining an unnamed league at the moment with some of the Modesto schools that include Downey, Gregori, Enochs, Beyer and Modesto.

Pitman went on to win two of three matches at doubles against Turlock and struggled in the singles.

The Bulldogs managed to top the Pride with a sweep at the singles, earning six victories, eventually securing the victory.

“Great match and nice way to complete a winning season,” Bejaran added. “Proud of the team. We've had injuries and the players have stepped up and filled in the gaps enabling us to clinch our 11th straight CCC title.”

The CCC Singles Tournament will take place from Buhach Colony at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
