Two people escape shed fire in Turlock

POSTED November 17, 2017 7:29 p.m.

A fire of undetermined origin burned through a shed in Turlock, which displaced two people that had been living in the outdoor building, according to the Turlock Fire Department.

The fire was reported around 2 a.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of W. Main Street.

The first fire crews to arrive found the shed completely on fire, with the flames encroaching on a neighboring fence. Crews aggressively attacked the fire and quickly brought it under control, ultimately saving the neighboring structures, said Turlock Fire Department spokesman Kevin Tidwell.

The shed sustained extensive damage and the contents inside were completely destroyed. Two people had been living in the shed and while they got out safely, they were left displaced.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Turlock Fire responded with three engines, Squad 32, and a battalion chief. Turlock Rural Fire provided city coverage while all Turlock Fire units were committed to the incident.
