For those savvy shoppers that scooped up deals on Thanksgiving meal staples, the Turlock Gospel Mission would appreciate any donations from the bounty.

The Turlock Gospel Mission will be hosting their annual Thanksgiving meal from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at Enclave Church. They are expecting to serve an estimated 100 to 150 guests and they aren’t quite sure they’ll have enough of some items to go around.

Turlock Gospel Mission’s Christian Curby said they are still in need of rolls, gravy and whipped cream for the meal and a few hearty volunteers willing to help with the clean-up efforts after 3 p.m.

“Of course, financial donations are always needed and appreciated,” Curby said. “We are also needing winter items, like jackets, gloves and hats to give out now that the weather is getting colder.”

The Turlock Gospel Mission is nearing completion of their year-round shelter, but in the meantime, they are operating their shelter through a rotation of churches, which offer homeless women and children and warm place to sleep. The We Care program is currently providing shelter for homeless men in Turlock.

Anyone willing to make a donation of last-minute food items can bring them to the Turlock Gospel Mission’s day center at 432 S. Broadway. Donations can be made Wednesday and early Thursday. Those wanting to help with the clean-up can call 656-1033.
