Those Turlock residents with a hankering to have a chat with the police chief will have their opportunity Tuesday morning and will get donuts and coffee thrown in for free.

The Turlock Police Department is hosting a meet and greet with Turlock Police Chief Nino Amirfar from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. Tuesday at the police department, at 244 N. Broadway. The police department will have coffee and sweets for attendees free of charge.

The meet and greet is intended for those individuals who want to address any specific concerns about the police department or crime in the city, or for those interested in learning more about public safety in Turlock.

The police department and Amifar have done other outreach efforts in the past, but this time Amirfar wanted to do something a little different.

“I have had community meetings last year trying to reach all of our Neighborhood Watch programs and have been at several other events supporting community policing,” Amirfar said. “We have had cocoa with a cop just a few months ago and in previous years coffee with chiefs.

“I wanted to do something a little different and invite community to my home, so to speak,” Amirfar continued. “I just want to keep in touch, besides social media and all the other meetings, I wanted another opportunity just to say hello.”
