The Turlock Police Department is looking for the public’s help in identifying several individuals wanted for questioning in regards to the flooding at The Vista apartments in Turlock on Sunday.

Through their investigation, Turlock Police detectives determined that several water valves were intentionally opened, allowing water from the fire suppression system to flood the building. Video was obtained showing several people of interest who may be involved in this criminal act of felony vandalism.

“Owner representatives were on property Monday to meet investigators and recovery contractors,” said Jennifer Gordon, director of communications for Amcal Equities, which owns The Vista. “They worked together to determine that the flood was caused by a single act of vandalism. Management is actively working with authorities to identify the perpetrator(s) and ownership has begun the process of installing locking valve mechanisms that will prevent this from happening again.”

Shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday the police department and the fire department were called to the apartment complex at 900 W. Monte Vista Avenue for a report of flooding. The flooding impacted about 30 residents, who had to be given temporary housing options.

A video from the fire department shows the stairwell on the first floor flooded up to almost the window and water sloshing through the hallways.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to call Detective Jason Tosta at 209-664-7324. You can also contact the Turlock Police Department’s Tip Line at 209-668-5550 extension 6780 or email at tpdtipline@turlock.ca.us.
