Turlock man charged with Ceres shooting

Satprit Singh

POSTED February 2, 2018 9:04 p.m.

A Turlock man has been taken into custody on allegations he shot a man during an armed robbery in Ceres.

The suspect was identified by the Ceres Police Department as Satprit Singh, 33, of Turlock.

Singh is accused of shooting a man in the leg, causing a life-threatening injury, according to the police department.

The incident began around 7 p.m. Jan. 23 when the Ceres Police Department was notified of a shooting that had occurred in the 3800 block of Lexar Drive in Ceres.

Officers arrived in the area and located the victim lying on the sidewalk suffering from a single gunshot wound to his upper right leg. Officers quickly began to provide medical assistance and applied a tourniquet, which stopped the bleeding. The victim was immediately transported to an area hospital for treatment and is now listed in stable condition.

The investigation led to Singh being identified as the likely shooter. Later in the evening of Jan. 23, the Ceres SWAT team and investigators executed a search warrant at Singh’s residence in Turlock. Singh was taken into custody without incident.

Singh was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, robbery and being a felon in possession of a weapon. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center where he was being held on $510,000 bail, but on Monday a new charge was added for possession of a controlled substance in jail and his bail amount was raised to $545,000.

If anyone has information related to this case they are encouraged to contact Detective Eric Gallegos at 538-5638.
