POSTED April 6, 2010 9:40 p.m.
Denali Foldager continues to have a good spring track and field season as the sophomore distance runner won the 1500-meter run Saturday at the American River Invitational. Meanwhile, Annie Burlingham leaped to a provisional height in the pole vault.
Foldager, who finished third in the same event behind her sister Rubye Foldager at the Cal-Nevada Championships last week, picked up the win with a time of 4:41.09. Rubye was third this time around in 4:45.58.
Denali Foldager also placed third in the 800-meter run in 2:18.26. Last week, she won the 3000-meter steeplechase run at UCLA and was named the CCAA's female athlete of the week.
Also getting a win was Burlingham, who cleared 12-2, in the women's pole vault to provisionally qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships. That feat is a major goal for Burlingham, who hopes to join her husband, Kasey Burlingham, at the championships this season. Kasey is the defending men's pole vault national champion. Alycia Wagner also finished fourth in the pole vault on Saturday.
In other running events, Lumuli Kyumba won her heat in the 100-meter hurdles (16.56) and Brittni Showers posted a personal best in the same event (15.96). Whitney Anderson had two solid times with personal bests in the 100-meter (12.87) and 200-meter (26.33).
The 4x400-meter relay team placed third in its event. Alyssa Thiele also ran a personal best of 2:30.07 in the 800-meter.
Jeni Cunha highlighted the field events with a second place showing in the shot put. The freshman recorded a 41-4, a personal best.

Sept earns PR in men’s hurdles
Antoine Sept posted a personal best in the 400-meter hurdles race with a time of 59.33 while Jerome Johnson won his heat of the 400-meter dash in 49.73 seconds.
Some other highlights included the 4x400-meter relay team's second place finish in its heat (3:19.85) and a fourth place finish in the shot put by Valentin Alberto. Connor Birtwhistle (400-meter hurdles) and Terry Gross (400-meter) both also posted season bests.
