The Spiritual Church of Turlock hopes to introduce the community to holistic lifestyle options and alternative medicine at their Intuition and Holistic Expo today. The expo will also feature intuitive and tarot readers, healers and vendors. The keynote speaker for the day will be Belinda Bentley, a Sacramento psychic who has appeared on several television shows, in magazines and on the radio.
Bentley has appeared on Dave Navarro’s Spread TV, NBC News, VH1’s “The Cho Show,” and E! Entertainment Television’s “Psychic Hollywood,” among other television appearances. Psychic Hollywood will also be the topic of her seminar this afternoon, which starts at noon. Bentley will talk about her experiences on a ghost hunt on the RMS Queen Mary in Long Beach.
“While I was doing a reading, my coffee cup flew off the table,” Bentley said of her experience on the ship.
Bentley will also talk about her unusual connection to the spirit of Anna Nicole Smith.
“I never met her (Smith) while she was alive but people keep coming to me about her,” Bentley said.
Bentley will have a booth at the expo, where she will perform one-on-one readings. Several other psychics, mediums and sensitives will also offer private consultations.
Reverend Gaylene Cornell of The Spiritual Church of Turlock said that the expo started as a strictly holistic presentation. Psychics were later added because they play a part in the Church, and because they draw a bigger crowd.
“Our church is a Christian-based metaphysical church,” Cornell said.
Along with Bible study and prayer, The Spiritual Church of Turlock also explores astrology, crystal healing, Reiki (a type of energy healing), meditation and other holistic healing practices.
The church hosts two Intuition and Holistic Expos a year, one in spring and one in fall. The first few expos took place at the church building on Crane, but they quickly outgrew the space. Next they moved to the Holiday Inn Express, where the last few expos were held. The last expo, which was held at the hotel, had over 400 visitors.
Today’s expo will take place at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds, one of the only venues in town big enough for the expected number of guests. Cornell said that she expects more guests than last year because the church is no longer charging an entrance fee to the expo or to hear lectures.
Private readings from psychics, however, are not free. Each psychic and intuitive reader sets his or her own prices. Areas of interest include Reiki, crystal healing, chakra and aura photos, tarot card reading and nutritional information. There will also be jewelry, art and other products for sale.
The Intuition and Holistic Expo runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds, building E5. For more information about The Spiritual Church of Turlock and the expo visit www.thespiritualchurch.com. Fore more information about Belinda Bentley visit www.belindabentley.com
