Born and raised in Arkansas, Edith moved to Newman, Calif. in the early 1950s. Later in the mid 1960s, she settled in Turlock, where she remained.
Edith worked for Banquet Foods and later retired. The loves of her life were her children and grandchildren who all called her “Sugar.” She loved shopping and yard sales with her friends.
Edith is survived by her children, Brenda Jefferis, Derrol Eldridge and Chuck Simon; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husbands, William Eldridge and Marshal Simon; children, Wilma Knutson and Gerald Eldridge; and grandsons, Gary Jefferis and Brandon Eldridge. Our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Brandel Manor and Emanuel Hospital.
Viewing will be held from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 2 at Allen Mortuary, with a funeral service to follow at 10 a.m., also at Allen Mortuary. Burial to follow at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine. Memorial contributions can be made in her honor to Legacy Circle of Emanuel, 825 Delbon Ave., Turlock, CA 95382.
