Homicide investigation in Westley

Stanislaus County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a shooting in Westley that resulted in the death of a Newman man.The deceased was identified as 21-year-old Anthony Bueno.The sheriff’s department has released little information about the circumstances surrounding the killing.The shooting was reported around 8 p.m. Wednesday when the sheriff’s department received several calls of shots fired in the intersection of Livingston Circle and Grischott Way in Westley.When deputies arrived they found Bueno with a gunshot wound, said sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Andrew Winter. Emergency aid was administered to Bueno, but he was pronounced dead at the scene when paramedics arrived.Several witnesses spoke to the sheriff’s detectives about the shooting, Winter said. Investigators stayed at the scene gathering clues late into the night.Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to contact Detective Hatfield at 525-7100.  Callers can also leave an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at 521-4636.  Tipsters can also e-mail tips at http://www.modestopolice.com/CrimeStoppers, or text them to CRIMES (274637) by typing "Tip704" plus the message.
