Turlock football: 2010 preview

POSTED August 24, 2010 9:53 p.m.

2009 record: 0-6 Central California Conference, 0-10 overall

Head coach: James Peterson (2nd year)

Assistants: Kirk Peterson, Joe Oliveira, Vince Zipser, Blake Amador, Eddie Aabassi, Greg Smith, Scott Hamaguchi

Top returners: Kevin Kramer, Ricky Fuentes, Connor Pearson, Everado Olide, Brett Garris, Michael Nissan

Top newcomers: Brad Badali, Justin Clardy, Tony Souza, Johnny Padilla, Bryce Simmons, Eric Parsons, Brandon Esquivel, DaShawn Holcombe

Outlook: Entering the 2010 season, the Bulldogs have a rejuvenated sense of determination. They don’t want a repeat of last year, when they went winless for only the second time in the program’s 90-year history.  Every member of this year’s squad has been working toward forgetting what happened in 2009, and the Bulldogs could possibly do just that. They return a nice core group of starters, including quarterback Kevin Kramer and all-conference wide receiver Everado Olide. They also welcome a junior class that went undefeated at the junior varsity level last season, bringing in a boatload of confidence with them. Turlock opens the season against Downey, which went 2-8 and lost a number of key players to graduation. It’s considered the Bulldogs’ first best chance at a win.
