Remembering 9-11

POSTED September 14, 2010 9:20 p.m.

The tragic events and the losses of Sept. 11, 2001, were remembered Saturday as the community came together for the “We Remember 9-11 Memorial.”

Joined by the men and women of Turlock’s police and fire departments, the attendees gathered to honor the thousands of people that lost their lives that day to the terrorist attacks and the bravery of the first responders. The scar of that day remains implanted on the American psyche as many in attendance shed tears for those who were lost.

Organized by the North Valley Tea Party Patriots, the memorial included a bag pipe rendition of “Amazing Grace,” by Randy Francis from the Turlock Police and Fire Pipe Band and speeches from Turlock Fire Chief Tim Lohman (pictured) Turlock Police Chief Gary Hampton, Assembly candidate Jack Mobley, and Congressional candidate Michael Berryhill.

In recalling his experience on Sept. 11, 2001, Lohman said he knew that many fire stations would be suffering untold losses and the pride he felt at the outpouring of support for firefighters across the country.
