Warriors golf take 10th at invitational

Teddy Schrier had the day's best score for the Warriors, but as a team, Cal State Stanislaus totaled 299 to drop four spots to finish 10th at the Western Washington Invitational in Bellingham, Wash.
The tournament was hosted by Western Washington and held at the Bellingham Golf and Country Club's par 72, 6,561-yard course.
Schrier's one-over 73 gave him a 221 tournament total, which was good for a 29th-place finish. Trevor Blair had the best tournament for the team with a 217 final score and a 16th place finish.
Sonoma State's Patrick Bauer and Western Washington's Brian Barhanovich tied for individual medalist honors with a 207 tournament total. Bauer shot a 69 after a 67-71 day on Monday.
Chico State won the team competition with an 865 and the host WWU Vikings were one stroke back for second. Cal State Monterey Bay (866) also finished second, one shot ahead of Sonoma State.
Brandon Taylor and Joseph Stewart both turned in a 77 on Tuesday with Taylor closing out with a 221 54-hole total. Stewart tallied a 225 and J.T. Cockerill had a 75 to finish with a 227.
Cal State Stanislaus has next weekend off before participating in the InterWest Chico State Invitational, at Butte Creek Country Club in Chico on Oct. 11-12.
