Investigators at the Merced County Sheriff’s Department are investigating a shooting near Livingston, but are gaining little ground because the victim is being uncooperative.
The shooting happened around 1 a.m. Wednesday, somewhere in or around Livingston, said sheriff spokesman Deputy Tom MacKenzie.
The 22-year-old victim was driving in an unknown location when he was shot in the left shoulder by a shooter with an unknown caliber firearm, MacKenzie said.
The victim was uncooperative with deputies when they attempted to get any type of information regarding the incident, MacKenzie said.
The victim, who is out of Madera, was air lifted to a Modesto area hospital.
Investigators are currently looking into the incident and have not ruled out gang violence as the cause, MacKenzie said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Merced Sheriff’s Office at 385-7472.
