The Modesto Police Department is looking for one of two men suspected of abducting and assaulting two teenage girls.

One suspect, identified as Christopher Lewis Armstrong, 28, was apprehended Thursday. The Modesto Police Department said Armstrong was arrested near his Modesto home and the vehicle used in the alleged abduction was found as well.

The girls were approached by the men around 2 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Colfax and El Vista avenues. The girls got into the vehicle with the men and left the area, according to the Modesto Police Department.

One girl was able to get out of the vehicle in the 500 block of Bodem, where she flagged down a citizen. The girl indicated that her friend was being held against her will and requested police assistance. While detectives were making contact with the first victim, the second victim was located at El Vista and Edgebrook. The details of her escape are unknown at this time, the police department reported.The police department said both girls were assaulted during the incident and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The second suspect is described as a black male adult in his 20s, between 5 feet, 5 inches and 5 feet, 6 inches tall and 180 pounds. He was wearing Giants baseball colored clothing. Armstrong was booked into Stanislaus County jail on a variety of charges including kidnapping, attempted murder and kidnapping with the intent to commit sexual assault.  At this time police ask anyone with information to contact Modesto Area Crime Stoppers at 521-4636 or text a tip to “274637” include the word TIP704 in your tip.
