Gunmen rob taco truck

POSTED January 7, 2011 9:32 p.m.

Two women working at a taco truck in Winton were robbed at gunpoint Wednesday night, the Merced County Sheriff’s Department reported.

The victims — a 29-year-old woman and a 19-year-old woman — were not harmed during the encounter, said sheriff spokesman deputy Tom MacKenzie.

The robbery occurred around 8 p.m. Wednesday at a taco truck parked in the area of Santa Fe Road and Walnut Avenue in Winton.

The two women were inside the taco truck when two men dressed in dark clothing approached and pointed handguns through the window at the women.

The men demanded cash and the 29-year-old handed over an undisclosed amount, MacKenzie said.

The men left in a dark colored vehicle, possibly a Honda Accord. Both suspects were described as Hispanic of an unknown age. One was wearing a dark colored hoodie and the other was in all dark clothing. Both were wearing dark colored masks.

Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to call the Merced County Sheriff’s Department at 385-7472.
