K9 tracks down robber

A Modesto Police K9 was able to pick up the scent of a suspected robber and led officers to the man’s front door.

Modesto police found the stolen property, as well as a handgun, at the suspect’s home. The suspect was identified as Jessie Allen Bryant, 24, of Keyes.

The robbery was reported Wednesday at the Rue 21 store at 2225 Plaza Parkway in Modesto.

According to the 911 call, a white male adult in his 20s entered the store and demanded money. The suspect was armed with a handgun and fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash. Once officers and detectives arrived they were able to determine that the suspect was last seen in the 500 block of North 9th Street. Officers requested the assistance of K9 “Ceasar.” The dog, working with his handler, Officer James Murphy, tracked the suspect from the corner of North 9th and Haney Avenue directly to his front door at 710 North 9th St., according to the Modesto Police Department.Once officers made contact inside the apartment they located wanted parolee Bryant, along with the handgun and the cash taken from the clothing store. Bryant was arrested for robbery as well as his outstanding parole violation.
