Sarah Marie Bauckman and William Edward Lathan, both of Gulfport, Miss., were married on Aug. 29, 2010, in Norfolk, Va.

Sarah’s hometown is Virginia Beach, Va. She graduated from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va. with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. She is the daughter of Marie and Thomas Bauckman of Virginia Beach, Va. Marie Bauckman, formerly Marie Morris of Turlock, graduated from Sacred Heart School in Turlock and Central Catholic High of Modesto. Sarah’s grandmother is Emma Warda Morris of Turlock.  Emma Morris taught school in Turlock for 50 years. She is a life-long resident of Turlock.

William is a “Navy brat” and considers the world his hometown. He is a Builder First Class in the United States Navy. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lathan of Atlanta, Ga.

The Aug. 29 wedding was held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Norfolk, Va. The bride was escorted by her father and the mother of the bride was escorted by her father, Pete Morris of Fresno.

Sister of the bride, Leigha Bauckman, was the maid of honor and bridesmaids were Alexandra Bauckman and Christine Bauckman, also sisters of the bride. Calyn and Paige McMullen, nieces of the groom, were flower girls.

Matthew McMullen, the groom’s brother-in-law, was the best man and groomsman was David Dacastello.

A reception was held at the Officer’s Club at Dam Neck Naval Base in Virginia Beach, Va. The couple plan on taking their honeymoon at the completion of the groom’s upcoming deployment. Their future plans include spending quality time together and with friends and family before William’s upcoming extended deployment.
