Drunk driver gets prison term

A Waterford man who injured a person while driving drunk, was sentenced to four years and four months in state prison, the Stanislaus County District Attorney reported.

Luis Miguel Pena Aldaco, 26, pled no contest to a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury and causing great bodily injury during the course of committing a felony.

Around 11 p.m. on May 5, 2009, Aldaco was driving at approximately 100 mph through traffic on Highway 99 in Turlock when he collided with the victim’s car, causing the victim’s car to overturn. The victim sustained major injuries including two fractured vertebrae, a concussion, a bruised lung, a broken right wrist and thumb. Aldaco had a blood alcohol level of .16 at the time of his arrest, according to the prosecution.
