Warriors finish 2-0 on road trip

The Cal State Stanislaus men's basketball team defeated Cal State East Bay 81-64 in Hayward for the second time this season on Saturday night in a California Collegiate Athletic Association contest.

This is the Warriors’ second consecutive win on the road, which improved their record to 10-12 overall and 8-10 in the CCAA. Cal State East Bay remains in last place in the CCAA with a record of 2-16, 4-18 overall.

Reggie Jones led the Warriors with 20 points after going 7-for-10 from the floor and 6-for-7 from the free-throw line. Evan Scott followed with 19 points.

To start the game, the Warriors took an early lead only to have the score tie four times throughout the first half.  With 5 minutes, 10 seconds left in the first half, the Warriors produced a 15-4 run over the Pioneers.

The second half completely belonged to the Warriors, as Cal State East Bay was not able to take control or tie the game once. Stanislaus took the biggest lead of the game with 38 seconds left after Prince Abidoye made two shots from the foul line.

Contributing to a strong Warrior offense was Brett Sayad, who had 11 points, and Mactar Gueye, who finished with nine points.  

The Stanislaus defense shined once again as the Warriors finished with a 37-21 rebounding advantage. Gueye led with seven rebounds and Dwight Jones snagged five. 

Pioneers' Donavon Jackson led his team with 15 points and six rebounds. Roshun Wynne followed with 14 points, shooting 3-for-6 from the floor, 1-for-4 from the 3-point line and 7-for-7 from the foul line.

The Warriors return home Friday and Saturday to take on Cal State San Bernardino and Cal Poly Pomona, respectively.
