Many in Turlock have benefitted from the work Sharon Silva has done promoting the businesses and organizations that help Turlock prosper. As the chief executive officer of the Turlock Chamber of Commerce, Silva has long been a proponent of everything Turlock.

Her passion for community has now earned her the honor of being named the 26th Assembly District’s Woman of the Year by Assemblyman Bill Berryhill.

“Sharon’s distinguished list of accomplishments is a decade-long testimony of her commitment to the success of our community.  She has been acclaimed for her leadership roles with multiple organizations, including past board member of the Turlock Community Theater, board member of CSU Stanislaus School of Business Administration and Stanislaus County Workforce Alliance Board.  I am honored to recognize her service to the community,” said Berryhill.

For years, Silva has taken on important leadership roles within the Turlock community.  In addition to working as president/CEO of the Turlock Chamber of Commerce for the past 12 years, Silva’s community service also included managing the Property Business Improvement District and serving as executive director of the Turlock Downtown Association for over eight years.

“It’s a tremendous honor,” Silva said about being named Woman of the Year.

She attributes the entire Chamber of Commerce organization, from board members to business members to staff, for any success she may have helped bring to Turlock.

“It’s all about the people you work with,” she said. “I’m very proud that we’ve been acknowledged.”

Silva is also a supporter of the Woman of the Year event, which is sponsored by The California Legislative Women’s Caucus. The event will be held at the State Capitol on March 21 as part of Women’s History Month.  A special Assembly session will be held in honor of all “Woman of the Year” award recipients.

“In today’s world, it’s exciting that women have literally moved into leadership roles and shown their strength. I’m thrilled that they are leaders making a difference in business and government,” Silva said.
