Turlock artist Don Hall is opening an exhibit at the Tidewater Art Center and Gallery in Stockton.

Hall’s current exhibit is of monumental portrait drawings. The super realistic drawings are large scale portraits of faces representing people varying in age from one to over 80.   Some of the drawings are only the eyes of the subject and others show the full face.  The drawings are completed using pastel on paper.

The exhibit opened Tuesday and will run through April 1. An artist reception for Hall is planned from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the gallery.

Known for working in a variety of art mediums, Hall’s past Tidewater exhibits have included drawings, as well as ceramic sculpture and pottery. This is his fourth exhibition at the Tidewater.

Hall is also an art history instructor at Delta College and is currently employed as a drawing instructor at Modesto Junior College.  His art work has been exhibited locally as well as in Southern California, Nevada and Oregon since the 1960s.  A recipient of numerous awards, his work is regularly featured in books and periodicals.

The gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. It is located at 223 E. Weber Ave., in Stockton. For more information call 463-4033 or visit www.tidewaterartgallery.org.
