More than 950 participants competed at the second annual Kim Duyst Invitational at Cal State Stanislaus' Al Brenda Track at Warrior Stadium on Saturday.

Five Warriors captured wins in their respective events to highlight the day for Cal State Stanislaus. Alycia Wagner won the women's pole vault; Terrance Ellis was first in the men's 800-meter run; Dawson Vorderbruegge took the 1,500-meter race; Kyle Maxwell had the best height in men's pole vault; and Cuauhtemoc Vallejo-Howard won the hammer throw.

Vallejo-Howard won the hammer throw with a toss of 178 feet, 4 inches. He also placed second in the discus with a distance of 151-10. He garnered a third top 10 finish in the shot put with a throw of 42-3 1/4 for 10th.

Maxwell cleared 14-feet, 9 inches in the pole vault for the win on the men's side while Wagner's height was 11 feet, 9 3/4 inches to win the women's competition.

"I was very happy to see Maxwell win a big home meet as a freshmen,” Stanislaus coach Geoff Bradshaw said. “He is a great guy to have on the team and we are happy to have him here.”

Two Warriors shined in the middle distance events with Ellis winning the 800 in 1:53.52. Vorderbruegge won the 1500-meter run in 3:53.02, barely missing a provisional mark.

Rubye Elhard highlighted the women's team with a second-place finish in the 800 (2:21.91) and was fourth in the 1500 (4:52.75). Teammate Marina Ghabbour was close behind Elhard finishing third in the 800 (2:21.92) and fifth in the 1500 (4:55.55).

Freshmen Lauren Young had a strong Saturday performance by leading the Warriors in the 100 and 200 meter races. Young also competed in the 4x100 meter relay and took fourth place.

"We had a lot of positive compliments from everyone about the meet,” Bradshaw said. “We had a lot of competitors who came a long way to compete in our meet. Hopefully we can make it better for years to come.”
