It looks like it’s going to be another long season for the Cal State Stanislaus volleyball team.
The Warriors were picked to finish 11th in the California Collegiate Athletic Association preseason coaches’ poll that was released Tuesday, well behind predicated winner the Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes — the three-time defending conference title holders and NCAA Division II runners-up who received nine first-place votes and 119 points.
UC San Diego collected three top votes along with 106 points to place second.
The Warriors, who finished last season 6-24 overall and 3-17 in the CCAA, earned 23 points — just two points ahead of last-place Cal State Dominguez Hills in the 12-team field.
Stanislaus officially begins its 2009 season on the road with their annual trip to Rohnert Park for the Seawolve Spike Classic starting Aug. 28. The tournament features teams from both the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and the Pacific West Conference.
CCAA action begins Sept. 11 at Cal State Monterey Bay.
But first, the Warriors will have an exhibition home match against Holy Names on Monday at 6 p.m.
