For the first eight weeks of the high school football season, the most a team scored on Pitman High was 24 points. And that was by Buhach Colony High, a state-ranked team chasing back-to-back Central California Conference titles and boasting a couple of highly recruited athletes.
After not having a league race since Oct. 5, the Pitman and Turlock cross country teams will get back at it today in the third and final Central California Conference Center Meet at Donnelly Park in Turlock.
With his lightning quick speed, Morley Baker won the opening match swim-off to give his Turlock High boys water polo team an early advantage. He then passed the ball to the trailer, who sent it to the middle of the pool to Antovan Davtians.
There were reasons to have their heads down, with the biggest being the fact that the Turlock High football players almost allowed a three-touchdown lead to completely slip away. But the Bulldogs did not partake in the blame game. They stayed composed, even with an opposing crowd surrounding them.
