It was a typical warm summer day in the Valley, perfect for swimming as the Turlock Seadogs defeated the smaller and up and coming Modesto squad on Saturday by a score of 1,414 to 318 at Turlock High.

Twins defeat top seeded Tigers

It was 1-1 until the final inning, when the mighty Twins did all they could and forced the Tigers pitching to walk five and allow eight unanswered runs to take the 9-1 victory in the first round of the American Little League Majors playoffs on Thursday.

Dodgers dominate Marlins

The Dodgers of the Turlock National Little League Majors have another shot at the top seeded Rockies, after defeating the Marlins, 12-5, in the semi-finals. The Dodgers nailed Thursday's win after a hot fifth inning rally that saw five runs scored.

Dodgers unable to topple defending champs

The Dodgers' late rally on Monday in the second round of the Turlock National Little League Majors playoffs was not enough to overcome their four run deficit as the defending champion Rockies kept their cool in the final inning to close out the 7-5 victory and move on to the championship game Saturday at Soderquist field.

Turlock Seadogs win Tracy Invitational

The Turlock Seadogs summer swimming program placed first out of six teams at the Tracy Invitational, taking the tournament by storm and for the first time in the program's history coming home as victors. The Seadogs dominated the meet by 50 or more points, a tremendous feat in the swimming world. Swimmers ranged in age from 3 up to 18, and the Seadogs took 122 representatives out of its 180 strong squad.

Rivercats lose first game after winning 13 straight

It was the final opportunity for the Iron Birds to keep their playoff hopes alive and they did just that. After taking down the undefeated Rivercats 11-4 in the season finale on Friday the Iron Birds currently sit tied in the fourth and final spot of the playoffs in the minors American Little League.

Track athletes end season at Masters

Four local athletes placed in the top six of their respective events at the Sac-Joaquin Section Track and Field Division I Masters at Elk Grove on Friday. No Pitman or Turlock athletes will move on to State, however.

Pitman takes Beyer to advance

The Central California Conference is making waves in this year's Sac-Joaquin Section Division I playoffs. Pitman High is one of three CCC teams advancing to the final four, after the Pride defeated Beyer, 7-4, at Klein Field at University of Pacific on Thursday. Pitman joins crosstown rivals Turlock and Buhach Colony in the semi-finals.

Hawks advance to semi-finals

In their first postseason appearance in over a decade, Delhi High's softball team will advance to the semi-finals and are now just two wins away from the Division VI Sac-Joaquin Section Softball Tournament title. Delhi took down Golden Sierra High, 3-0, at the Lodi Softball Complex on Wednesday.
