Hubert Nielsen, 88, of Hughson, passed away at Emanuel Medical Center on June 1. He was born in Alameda, Calif. to Jens and Sofie Nielsen in 1921. Hubert was raised in Yucaipa, Calif., and at an early age asked Jesus Christ into his life. After high school, he attended U.C. Berkeley until WWII. Hubert served in the U.S. Coast Guard and was involved in the D-Day landing. During WWII, he served in the Mediterranean, Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. After the war, Hubert finished college at U.C.
