Randall Lee Jensen

Randy was born in Turlock, CA on November 15, 1967 to parents Gerry and Jeannie Jensen. He attended Julien Elementary, Turlock Junior High and graduated from Turlock High School in 1986. He attended MJC, earning several computer degrees, and a bachelor's degree a few years later. He lived in Turlock his whole life.

George Daniel Tallman

George D. Tallman passed away peacefully at age of 96 with his loving wife by his side. He was born as the only child of G. Daniel and Bertha (Mullen) Tallman in Des Moines, Iowa and lost his father to a flu epidemic at the age four. He spent his summers on his uncles' farms and later attended Iowa State Teachers College prior to joining the Navy in 1942.

Soiseth: Turlock’s effort to be the most inclusive city in the Valley

This past February, a group of about two dozen pastors, students, civic leaders, elected officials, and activists came together for a day-long summit about how to make Turlock the most inclusive city in the Valley. The discussion was frank and to the point: we all agreed that Turlock is a great city with a rich history of different cultures, religions, and ethnicities, but we need to do more to highlight these differences in a positive light.

Protecting Turlock: Options to fund public safety

While my elected colleagues recognize the current funding for public safety is inadequate my request to review all possible funding mechanisms including consulting our citizens about a public safety tax has thus far been rejected. Unfortunately, the funds needed to meet our public safety needs from our current funds are not there. At the last council meeting my colleagues added over $400,000 to next year's budget for a recurring expense "hoping they can find the funds for the new expense."

Ove Vilhem Haugsted

Mr. Haugsted, 94, of Turlock, passed away Monday, March 26, 2018. He was born in Pennsylvania. When Ove was in Denmark he completed trade school to become an Machinist and worked in Los Angeles, Phoenix, Modesto then Turlock. Ove enjoyed vintage Marklin Trains, exploring the foothills and finding adventures on that next dirt road and seeing where it took him. He was a historian and when he lived in the Ralston Tower in Modesto he was an avid reader at the public library.

Mr. William Bradford Shelton

Mr. William Bradford Shelton, age 81, of Glencoe, Kentucky formerly of Madison, Indiana entered this life on February 21, 1937 in Saluda, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late James and Blanche Smith Shelton. He was inducted into the United States Air Force and rose to the rate of staff sergeant, and was honorably discharged on February 28, 1964 at Castle AFB in California receiving the Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award, Special Operations Group Award, and other numerous awards in his 9 years of active duty. Bill was united in marriage on July 15, 1955 ...
