Deloris Lucille Fagundes was born Deloris Lucille Pirtle on December 13, 1933 in Missouri to William and Francis Pirtle. At a young age, her parents moved her, her sister, and her 2 brothers to Denair, CA where they attended school. Deloris later married Louis Daniel Fagundes and moved to Turlock where she continued to live and raise her children.

Denise (Haile) Lara

Denise went home to be with the Lord on November 6, 2017 due to complications from cancer. Denise was 47 years young. She was born in Turlock and spent most of her life in the Denair/Turlock area. Turlock was her permanent home with her husband, children and their two dogs, Katie and Rocco, whom she adored and loved. Her favorite activities included camping and boating with her extended family.

Ruby Handy

Ruby Myrtle Handy passed away in Turlock, California on November 8, 2017, at the age of 97. She was born in Minco, Oklahoma on January 18, 1920 to Jackson and Myrtle Marlow who both died when Ruby was a small child. She was left in the care of her paternal grandparents and, later, to other relatives until, at the young age of 15, she married Cicero Thomas. We need to vote in every election

I am so grateful to see that Measure S passed so overwhelmingly. It extended the sales tax surcharge to support the Stanislaus County Library system for the next 12 years. Now, we can maintain what is in place, and still plan for more services into the next decade or so. The citizens of Turlock will enjoy their branch library well into the next decade.

Rosalyn Beauchamp

Rosalyn Beauchamp, 80, of Fairbanks, passed away, October 17, 2017, at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, Fairbanks, Alaska, peacefully in her sleep following a very brief and unexpected battle with ovarian cancer. She was born Rosalyn Burton on June 20, 1937, in Bell, California and reared in Riverbank. She spent many years in Turlock before moving to Camino (Apple Hill) where she lived until she left California and moved to Fairbanks, Alaska in 2004 following the death of her husband of nearly 45 years. Thomas (Tom) William Porter died after a sudden illness on Thursday morning, November 2nd, 2017 at the age of 81 in Modesto. He was born in Trafton WA on March 30, 1936 to James and Iris Porter. He was a resident of Turlock and Hughson for the past 43 years, having also lived in Stockton, CA during the late 1960's and early 1970's.

Christopher Blake Ross-Davis

Christopher Davis was born in Santa Clara, CA. His father took him fishing at three months old, which may have influenced his love of the outdoors. When he was five years old the family moved to Hawaii for a year, where Chris attended kindergarten in Waikiki. Eventually the family moved to Turlock, where he attended grammar, middle, and high school. Summers were spent backpacking and at Fallen Leaf Lake near Lake Tahoe, CA. He was a good skier and spent time in the winter skiing.
