Gerald Glenn Mathis

Gerald Mathis, 78, of Denair, CA passed away December 27, 2017 at Emanuel Medical Center. Gerald was born in Imperial Valley on August 15, 1939 to W.L. and Georgie Mathis. He served for the United Sates Navy from 1957 - 1960. Gerald was was a excellent Police Officer and admired by so many people. He was a Police Officer in Hayward until 1973 and retired as Police Lieutenant from Hughson Police Department at age 50. Gerald was a very special "Papa" who loved his grandchildren more than anything in the world.

Richard Dula

Richard Dula died peacefully, surrounded by family, following a long illness. He was 80. Richard attended Turlock High School, lettering in football and graduating in 1955. He married Nadene Rowland in 1957 and they had two children, Rick Dean Dula and Jay Alan Dula. Though they eventually divorced, Richard and Nadene remained lifelong friends until her death in 2010. Richard was very proud of his military service. He joined the Navy in the '50s and rose all the way to Master Chief, the highest rank possible for an enlisted man. LaVerne Theresia Mord Nelson, born May 30, 1919, had the distinction of being the first baby girl born in Hilmar and was the 4th child of Charles and Agnes Mord. She passed away at her home in Hughson on December 27 at the age of 98. As a child she attended Hilmar Covenant Church and Hilmar schools. James Stewart Pierce, age 85, passed away peacefully at Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson on December 22. He is the beloved father of Susan Fowle, Steven Pierce, Timothy Pierce, and Tamara McCorkle all of Turlock/Denair. He has six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and four great, great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Norman Pierce of Waterloo, Iowa.
