Cynthia Denise Simpson, 52, of Turlock, passed away on July 6 in Sacramento. She was a homemaker for 21 years. Cynthia enjoyed yoga, going for walks, spending time with her grandkids, and spending time alone with her husband. She loved being with her family, and she was a caring and loving person. Milton L. Cederlind

Milton Cederlind was born in Newman Grove, Neb. in 1920 to parents Frank and Augusta Cederlind. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, where he earned his pilot wings. He was stationed in India and China. When he returned home to Nebraska, Milton met and married Lucille, his wife of 62 years. They farmed and raised their family in Nebraska before settling in Turlock in 1965. In 1982, he retired from his position as safety engineer from Banquet Foods. George Macias Rodriguez, 59, of Hughson, died on July 12. He was born in Phoenix, Ariz. When he moved to Turlock, he worked as an auto mechanic for 20 years. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hughson. He enjoyed working with cars and going to car shows. He loved spending time with his granddaughters.

Lorraine F. Glover

Lorraine Frank Glover, 87, of Turlock, passed away on July 10 at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock. Mrs. Glover was born June 5, 1923 in Michigan. In 1959 her family moved to California. As a registered nurse, Mrs. Glover cared for infants and surgical/medical and operating room patients. Lorraine and her husband "Bud" moved to Turlock 26 years ago. Lorraine is a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a past volunteer with the Emanuel Medical Center Auxiliary, a current member and past president of the Turlock Newcomers and Friends, as well as a member of Sip and Sew.

Ruth DeRooy

Ruth "Woutje" DeRooy, 84 of Turlock, passed away from Alzheimer's disease. She was born in Waddinxveen, Holland to Jan and Willempje Van Elk in 1925. She married Art A. DeRooy following WW II, and then immigrated to Australia in 1954. Their only child, Arthur B., was born 1956 in Sydney. The family immigrated to Sacramento in 1958. Ruth worked clerical jobs, retiring from PERS, State of California, after more than 20 years. A close relative of mine mentioned to me that he was going camping for two days at one of the local lakes. As he began to go through his packing list, he couldn't help to add a few things here and there. Before he knew it, his truck was completely full. Shirly Hulbert

Shirly Hulbert passed away on July 3. She will always be remembered by her riding buddies and missed by her family, friends and USDA co-workers. Shirly worked as a slaughter inspector for the USDA for 25 years in the red-meat plants in Modesto. She graduated from Live Oaks High School in Morgan Hill. She was a generous and cool mother, a dutiful yet ornery daughter, but most of all a true friend to those who knew her.
