Stimulus money puts area teens to work

Four million dollars in federal economic stimulus funds have given 1,000 kids in Stanislaus County a summer job. Three hundred of those jobs were filled by Project YES, the Ceres Unified School District's youth employment agency.

Luis Angel Maldonado-Garcia

Visitation for Luis Maldonado-Garcia, 16, of Winton, will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 22, with the rosary beginning at 5 p.m., at Allen Mortuary in Turlock. A mass will be held at 10 a.m. July 23 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Turlock Memorial Park. Luis Maldonado-Garcia was fatally shot Wednesday.

Family and friends of Annie Estrada, 75, of Modesto, are welcome to attend visitation from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. July 20 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Chapel, 286 West Main St., Turlock. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. July 20, also at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Service. It will be officiated by Msgr. Harvey Fonseca. A mass will be held at 10 a.m. July 21 at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 330 Frinci St., Livingston. Burial will be at Winton District Cemetery. Annie passed on at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.
