Jennie Houts, 97, of Turlock, passed away on Tuesday, July 20 at Emanuel Medical Center. She was born in Poplar Bluff, Mo. to James and Eva Buchanan in 1913. She married James Earl Houts in 1932, and they moved to Iowa in 1941. They moved to Santa Clara in 1959, and settled in Turlock in 1992. Jennie worked for Amway and Collegiate Manufacturing. She loved to travel, and she traveled to South Africa, England, Hawaii, and extensively throughout the continental United States with her motor home. Jeffrey L. Widdowson

Jeff Widdowson, 51, of Turlock, passed away at Emanuel Medical Center on Thursday, July 22. Jeff was born Dec. 9, 1958 in Monterey and was a resident of the Bay Area. He graduated from Sycamore High School in Danville in 1977. He lived in Antioch and Pittsburg before he settled in Turlock four years ago. He was a journeyman tile setter for 35 years. Jeff was a member of the Teamsters Union Local #3, and he enjoyed water skiing and boating.

Wayne C. Conner

Wayne C. Conner, 76, of Tracy, was enjoying himself on a family camping trip in Colorado when he became suddenly ill and passed away on Monday, July 19. Mr. Conner was a native of Turlock. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Tracy Skyliners, Society of Antique Modelers (SAM), and Model Engine Collectors Association (MECA). Mr. Conner worked at Lawrence Livermore Lab for 34 years until he retired in 1991. Mr. Conner enjoyed golfing, fishing and camping. He loved spending time with his family.

Samuel Takahashi

Samuel Masami Takahashi of Modesto passed away on Sunday, July 18 in his home. Sam was born on Nov. 11, 1916 in Oakland. He was one of five children to Terumi Takahashi of Chiba, Japan and Kiyo Nobe of Yokohama, Japan. During WW II, he and his family were forced to sell everything and become imprisoned in the Japanese internment camps. Lyle Lake Sr.

Lyle Lake Sr., 95, passed away peacefully on July 15 after a long and happy life. Lyle served his country during World War II as a Navy Seabee. After a letter-writing courtship with his sweetheart, he married Betty Ann Millard and continued their courtship for 59 years. He also played baseball for the Pacific Coast League and Alameda's Ben's Golden Glow. He was a loyal employee of Mobil Oil Corporation for 35 years. After retirement at age 63, he enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing, swimming and the arts. Lyle had many friends and was loved by all.

Donald was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada to Jane and William Lumgair. He was known in Calgary for his athletic abilities on the football field of Western Canada High School.
