Comic Con returning to Turlock

In February, over 2,500 people flocked to the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds to participate in Turlock's first-ever Comic Con, transporting the city's geeks and pop culture enthusiasts to an alternate reality filled with superheroes, zombies and even some celebrities. New year, new look for Stan State gym

The athletics program at Stanislaus State has seen plenty of success over the years, and improvements to the sports facilities around campus reflect those achievements, from new stadium seating at Warrior Baseball Field to the school's state-of-the-art soccer field and track. The home of the school's basketball and volleyball teams, Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena, is the latest venue to receive a makeover, costing nearly $1 million.

California is the nation's leading agricultural production state when it comes to value and crop diversity, and in order to keep that title, maintaining healthy soils throughout the state's farm and ranchlands is vital. The Healthy Soils Program is accepting applications now and aims to promote the development of such soils, reducing greenhouse gas emissions while providing a variety of benefits to the local community.

Cunningham launches school-wide ag science program

When Turlock Unified School District Superintendent Dana Trevethan requested that each elementary school in the district develop their own "brand" for the 2017-2018 school year, Cunningham Elementary School Principal Tami Truax knew just what to pick. Agriculture is at the heart of Turlock's community and also surrounds the campus, with grazing horses and crop-tending farmers just a minute's drive away from the school. Now, the school is heading into its first year as a campus with a focus on Agriculture Science, and Truax couldn't be more excited.
