Raymond Nicholson, 74, of Modesto, passed away on June 3. Raymond was born in Banner, Ariz. to Henry and Maggie Nicholson in 1936. He lived most of his adult life in California. In 1997, he settled in Modesto. Raymond was a minister for International Gospel Assemblies. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being a carpenter. He loved helping people in need.
Larry Gross, 72, of Ceres, was born in Whittier to George "Jack" and Mildred Gross. They moved to Oklahoma, where Larry lived until he was in high school. They moved back to Modesto, where Larry attended and graduated from Modesto High School. Soon after high school, Larry worked with his father in the cement construction business. Through the years he worked on a number of well-known projects like the highway and bridges over Altamont pass, the Delta-Mendota Canal, and other important projects in Northern California.
Mrs. Ethel Lair passed away at the Turlock Nursing and Rehab Center. Her life came to an end after 99 years. Mrs. Lair was born in Minnesota. She was a wonderful housewife for over 75 years. Mrs. Lair enjoyed cooking and was very involved with the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Gurmit Kaur Pannu, a long-time resident of Livingston, died Saturday at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. She was born in November 1925 in India to the late Devraj Singh Badyal and Jay Kaur Bains. She lived in Yuba City in 1977, before she settled in Livingston in 1979. She belonged to the Livingston Sikh Temple and enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Hailey Yang-Gutierrez was granted her angel wings on Saturday. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends who Hailey had touched in some small way throughout her short, yet very memorable life.
Leatrice Kinnu, 84, was a lifelong Turlock resident. She was born in Turlock, went to Turlock schools, graduated as valedictorian of the Turlock High School Class of 1944, and passed away in Emanuel Hospital in Turlock on Friday after an extended illness.
Jasbar Kaur Khera, 79, died May 26 with her family by her side in Modesto, Calif. She was born September 1930, in India to Rashpal Singh and Daljit Kaur. Jasbir was a devout and loving person. She always greeted everyone with love and kept everyone around her close.
